What should I make next?

This series is composed of five glass mosaics depicting images of mass deportation and responses by committed citizens, juxtaposed against titles with lyrics from the US national anthem and (literally) wrapped in flag-like fabric. The series was featured at ArtPrize 2026 at Fountain Street Church.

Beginning with iconic images (based on photos of actual events) showing moments of gross injustice, the perspective shifts, turning 180 degrees and asking viewers where they see themselves on one of the most compelling issues of our time.

Interpreting a photo into glass medium creates an entirely different feeling. Unlike paint and other media, glass comes in a fixed number of colors. That limitation inspires creative approaches to evoke a feeling and a look that transcends photography.

Sometimes a literal interpretation isn't as powerful as an abstract. Abstracts suggest something to the viewer, twist reality, or capture a feeling. And that's the best description I have for my abstract mosaics.

By its very nature, art is political.
It allows us to bear witness. To see the world in a different way.
I use art to comment on and elucidate important issues.

These fun mosaics tend to appear more two-dimensional, with less shading and dimensionality but plenty of personality.
